Breathing a Sigh of Relief

The news so many of us have been waiting for finally came in. With the Governor’s latest Executive Order (21-05-14-01) and with guidance from the Town of La Plata, the La Plata Farmers Market is no longer required to enforce the wearing of face coverings.

It’s been a long time since we used the “U” word, but folks, we are still in unprecedented times, and we are not all at the same comfort level. Some of us aren’t ready to be out in public without face coverings. Some of us aren’t vaccinated, for various reasons. Our vendors, volunteers, and staff are “some of us.” So are other Market visitors. If they choose to continue to wear face coverings and maintain physical distance, please respect their choices in the same way that you want your choices respected.

If you have chosen not to get vaccinated for whatever reason, we ask you to follow the CDC’s recommendations when you visit our Market:

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others. Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.

Please also note that according to the same Executive Order (21-05-14-01) face coverings are still required in these settings:

  • In or on any Public Transportation or School Bus

  • Obtaining healthcare services, including without limitation, in offices of physicians and dentists, hospitals, pharmacies, and laboratories; and

  • Indoors in any portion of a School where interaction with others is likely, including without limitation, classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, auditoriums, and gymnasiums.

But you should always read the original source on these kinds of things.

We look forward to seeing you at market, with or without a face covering.
