We're a Community Within a Community.

Our Market is more than just a bunch of people selling things. Like any other group project, it requires communication and coordination, and people willing to help each other out.

We also have ties outside the Market -- that's where we come from, after all!

Our Committee

Our Market Committee consists of seven members:

Cindy Bliss (Zekiah Ridge Farm & Flowers), Alternate Vendor Representative (Produce/Farm Products)
George Henderson, Jr. (Sweet Street Donuts), Vendor Representative (Food Trucks)
Jillian Kalin (Jillian's Fare), Alternate Vendor Representative (Food Trucks)
Yayra Asante (Yisoobi Naturals), Vendor Representative (Other Products)
Jessica Conjour, Community Representative
Craig Hower, Community Representative

All representatives are volunteers. Their duties include attending monthly meetings, soliciting input and feedback from other vendors, reviewing and updating the Market rules, drawing up Market bylaws and operating procedures, reviewing and approving vendor applications, and promoting the Market. Vendor representatives are elected by the vendors of their respective category. Community Representatives are appointed by the Market Manager. The Market Manager is appointed by the Town of La Plata.

Our Staff

In addition to the Market Manager, our market has two dedicated On-Site Coordinators, Chenoa Sowa and Ashley Sealey.

Vendor Arrivals
Market Rules
General Cleanliness
Providing information to visitors and prospective vendors
Lost and Found
Reporting problems and issues to the Market Manager (and, occasionally, the police or other emergency services)
Generally keeping an eye out for vendor and visitor safety
Collecting fees
Breakdown and departure

The Market Manager and On-Site Coordinators are appointed by the Town of La Plata and operate in accordance with Town Code.
